Question: Which idea do you think would work better or any other similar small business ideas??
Me and my friend have thought of two ideas, and can't fully decide between these two ideas for a small business. Either a car wash where we would find 10 to 15 cars a week to clean, set it up so we would just come clean each of them each week for $50 - $75 for a full inside and outside detail or have a lawn mowing business. Any other similar ideas? We just want something for and hour or two a day on regular days and up to 6 hours on saturday.
Not sure if I mentioned it very clearly, it won't be a full time thing, just after work during the week and on saturdays.

Advice: I think it will be easier to get work from the lawn mowing business. But the cost to run that will be more expensive than the car detailing - which is also a good idea. Good luck

Question: Any good business ideas for a small town along a major interstate??
I'm in a small town of about 3000 right along I-35. Does anyone have any suggestions for good small business ideas. I've considered a small internet cafe? Suggestions welcome
|
|
|
Advice: First what is your market - this can not be the people who drive by on I-35. It has to be which people are the ones driving by and why would they want to stop.
Second- What is the need you are filling. Is it really a need? Is there any way to test it before spending $$'s that could be lost? Is anyone else doing it in a similar type of location (Another small town) Interview that person or better yet several people in other small towns doing something like this or similar.
Third. What are your resources - to sustain you. Do you have an income while you are getting started. I started a business once and I had little cash to start but I was able to work it part time for 18 months while I worked full time. I was able to reinvest any earnings back into my business.
The internet cafe is an interesting idea but the cafe or the food I think is what will draw people in.
Take a road trip and see what other people are doing and tell people straight up what you want to do and ask lots of questions. People love to help others.
I am excited for you and a little jealous - Owning my business was the funnest thing I have have ever done. If you have other questions you can email me. Good Luck!

Question: Do you have any small business ideas for me please??
Hello! I'm a 22-year-old girl. I have a degree in business administration. I want to start a small business. I don't have any experience in managing a business. I love cooking and home care. I read a lot and have a good amount of knoweldge on many subjects. I have a good computer skill. I wish to start a business that doesn't need a lot of money for starters. Also, I would prefer if I didn't have to hire someone for a start. My friend might join me in the business. She has a degree in Genetics. I have good relations with a few well-to-do ladies from all over the world through a social club. Also, my cousin has a lot of relations and he said he'd help me if I needed him. My other cousin, who has been a restaurant manager for 10 years, said she'd help me with her management expertise to set up my business. I would appreciate if you could give me any ideas. Thank you very much.

Advice: The best business will depend on what you want, how you define to be interesting. A person may consider a pet sitting business to be the most exciting work in the world, while another person would rather watch TV than take care of dogs.
The key is to determine what your interests are, what you want to do, what is suitable for your lifestyle and your overall goals, and what can fit with your resources.
Dan Ramsey in his book "101 Best Home Businesses" has a chapter on how to find YOUR best home business. He suggests these 10 steps:
1. List 5 things you do best
2. List how others would benefit from what you do best
3. Find out how to give people what they want
4. Learn the value of your services to others
5. Find out who else offers similar services
6. Learn from the successes of others
7. Learn from the failures of others
8. Plan your own success
9. Make low cost mistakes
10. Enjoy what you do and how you do it
He then made suggestions on the best home businesses according to type. Here are a few of them:
